AWS Truepower, an innovative leader in the renewable energy sector, has provided their powerful suite of wind developer software tools free of charge to Appalachian State University. Students and faculty in the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment will now have access to software that professional wind developers use, including Windnavigator, Windographer and Openwind. These programs offer online, high-resolution wind resource data, tools to analyze wind data and the industry’s most advanced software for designing and optimizing wind farms.
“This education access will provide our students invaluable experience with the latest tools of the wind industry,” remarked Sustainable Technology Practitioner-in-Residence Brent Summerville. “We are grateful to AWS Truepower for the support.”

The department offers bachelor’s degrees in sustainable technology and building science, and a master’s degree in technology.
