Appalachian State offers 10th annual Summer Dance Series

The Appalachian State University Summer Dance Series begins May 31 and will run for five weeks, until June 30. This is the 10th year the series, which is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance, will be offered to the local community.

Offerings include a variety of dance styles and body work classes for beginning and intermediate levels, including African, tap, jazz, Greek, folk, creative movement, ballet, Pilates, yoga and much more. The classes are free and open to the public.

“The department is thrilled to again offer the Summer Dance Series,” said Regina Gulick-James, senior lecturer in the College of Fine and Applied Arts and the series organizer. “Our goal is to provide a fun and instructive environment while involving dancers and dance enthusiasts both on- and off-campus.”

Classes will be held Tuesday-Friday at 5:30 p.m. in room 208 of Varsity Gym on campus. Children ages 9 and under are welcome to attend with an adult. In lieu of a class fee, donations to the Visiting Artists and Dance Scholarship funds are welcome.
