The College of Fine and Applied Arts is pleased to welcome Dave Blanks as the new Student Media Director and Advisor for WASU FM, beginning his role on May 19, 2024. Dave has been part of the University Communications team at Appalachian State University since 2014, where he worked on podcast and audio production in the Greg Cuddy Podcast Studio and supported field mixing for Appalachian Media Productions.
Before returning to App State, Dave spent 10 years in commercial radio and also worked in emergency communications. A 2005 graduate of Appalachian State with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, Electronic Media/Broadcasting and a minor in Sociology, Dave brings a thoughtful approach and deep commitment to student media. Known for his warm, outgoing personality and collaborative spirit, he’s already building strong connections with students and colleagues. His familiarity with the university and dedication to its mission make him a welcome addition to the WASU team.
