The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has announced that Tina McCorkindale, Ph.D., APR, has been elected to a two-year term as PRSSA 2015-2017 National Faculty Adviser on the National Committee, starting June 1, 2015.
The National Faculty Adviser has specific roles and responsibilities on the National Committee, which include counseling fellow members of the National Committee, assisting current Chapter Faculty Advisers and helping Chapters discover and connect with Faculty Advisers.
McCorkindale, currently teaching at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, has served as a Chapter adviser for nearly 10 years. She has also served on six national PRSA committees and boards, including the Educators Academy, and will begin serving on the Universal Accreditation Board in 2015. Outside of PRSA and PRSSA, McCorkindale is a senior research editor for the Social Media Research Center and active in the Arthur W. Page Society and Institute for Public Relations.
“I have wanted to be a PRSSA National Faculty Adviser since I first started teaching, and now think I am at the perfect point in my career to serve in this position,” McCorkindale said in her application. “I love working with students, serving in leadership positions, and I want to continue to give back to my profession.”
Outgoing National Faculty Adviser Richard “Pritch” Pritchard will complete his second consecutive term on May 31, 2015. PRSSA members and advisers are encouraged to connect with both Pritchard and McCorkindale, who will be at the PRSSA National Assembly March 12-15 in Portland, Oregon.
