CFAA Career Development Center Updates for Fall 2023

Hello CFAA colleagues and students! I hope your fall semester is going great and that you've had an opportunity to interact in some capacity with the Career Development Center. Maybe you went by for an appointment or some walk-in advice, maybe you were among the myriad students who stopped by for free professional attire at our Look Smart Pop-Up Shop, or better yet, maybe you stopped by one of our recent career fairs. Maybe you did all three! In any case, if we haven't seen you yet, we would still love to have you drop by for any career-related help you may need.

There are still a few major events happening over the course of the ongoing semester: Internship & Job Fair on Wednesday, September 27th and Education Career Fair on Friday, October 20th. Further information on these events can be seen on our website and students can log in to Handshake to register ahead of time (not required), and look at the list of attending employers. There will be well over 100 employers at each of these events looking to hire App State students and grads for internships and jobs.

If you've been to any of our recent career fairs and need help preparing for that big interview now, make an appointment for a practice interview with your career coach! As the Career Coach for the College of Fine and Applied Arts, I am open for appointments with students immediately. In addition to practice interviews, I can help with resume/cover letter reviews, job/internship searching, grad school application assistance, networking and LinkedIn tips, and/or general career advice. Appointments must be made through Handshake.

For CFAA staff and faculty, I offer presentations on any topics related to career readiness! If you are interested in scheduling a presentation for your class, club, etc., please fill out our presentation request form or send me an email letting me know what you would like me to talk about. I would love the opportunity to meet and work with you!

This Labor Day marked five years at the Career Development Center for me, but this is just my second full semester in my career-coaching role with CFAA, so if we have not yet been acquainted, I hope we can amend that soon. Email me at jacksonjr@appstate.edu or give the Career Center a call at (828) 262-2180!

Have a great semester!
