Appalachian State University Artist Alissa Goble Selected for Four Major Exhibitions Including International Debut

BOONE, NC — Appalachian State University student Alissa Goble (Studio Art BFA Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design) has been selected for four significant exhibitions spanning local, national, and international venues, culminating in her international debut at one of the world's most prestigious contemporary jewelry events.

"Interwoven" at EMERGE Gallery & Art Center
Goble's work is featured in Interwoven, exploring the connections that bind us materially, conceptually, and communally. Her pieces blend traditional metalwork with fiber, including Put Your Trust in God, Baby and Look at the Penguins, Gammy!, both combining copper, brass, embroidery thread, and fabric. The exhibition was juried by renowned metalsmith Sharon Massey.

Exhibition: December 22, 2025 – January 29, 2026, EMERGE Gallery & Art Center, 404 Evans St., Greenville, NC

"STILL HERE" National Traveling Exhibition
Goble was selected for STILL HERE, a national juried exhibition celebrating resilience through craft. Juried by Renee Zettle-Sterling and Shelby Goldsmith, the show features artists who have persevered through grief, trauma, and healing. Her piece I Still Hear Our Laughs (2025) utilizes vitreous enamel, copper, brass, and embroidery floss to explore memory and the "mending" process inherent in healing.

Exhibition Schedule:
EMERGE Gallery & Art Center: January 2 – January 31, 2026
The Silver Fern Fiddlehead Gallery: February 10 – April 11, 2026

"Emergence: A Survey of Southeastern Studio Programs" at The Bascom
Professor Frankie Flood and student Alissa Goble have been selected for the 7th annual Emergence exhibition at The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts. This unique regional showcase requires faculty members to apply alongside a chosen student, celebrating the vital relationship between artistic mentorship and student development. Featuring 35 pairs of artists from 30 higher education institutions across the Southeast, the exhibition highlights how technical skills, conceptual depth, and professional practice are passed down through generations.

Goble's contribution, Bittersweet Birthdays (2025), incorporates copper, brass, vitreous enamel, embroidery thread, fabric, and beads, exploring the emotional complexity of time and memory through mixed media. Professor Flood's Digital Tetsubin (2025) bridges ancient casting traditions and digital craft processes through 3D-printed patterns, investment ceramic shell molding, cast bronze, and CNC-machined aluminum.

"The mentor-student relationship is at the heart of our studio culture at App State," says Professor Frankie Flood. "Being selected for Emergence is a testament to the time and effort Alissa has put into her craft."

Exhibition: January 17 – April 25, 2026, The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts, 323 Franklin Road, Highlands, NC https://www.thebascom.org/

"Fragility" International Exhibition in Munich
Goble reached a significant milestone with selection for Fragility, organized by international art jewelry organization Alliages. Out of 188 global applications, she was one of only 70 artists selected by curator Juan Riusech for the world premiere during Schmuck, the world's most renowned contemporary studio jewelry gathering.

"To have my work recognized on an international level, especially within the context of Munich Highlights week, is an incredible honor," says Goble.
