I have been suspended and allowed to return under a forgiveness. Will my financial aid be reinstated?

Undergraduate students who have been academically suspended are ineligible for federal, state and institutional financial aid. A student must be in good academic standing and meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) towards completion of a degree or certificate program.

If you have been suspended and return under the forgiveness policy or a Dean's Office override, you will need to appeal with the Office of Financial Aid to request reinstatement of financial aid. A dean’s override to allow you to return one semester DOES NOT imply financial aid will be reinstated.

If you complete courses in summer and attain a 2.0 cGPA or higher, you will STILL need to appeal with the Office of Financial Aid to grant reinstatement.

The appeal process is explained below:

  • Complete the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form.
  • Complete a personal statement describing the circumstances that resulted in you not meeting SAP.
  • Complete a personal statement describing the steps you have taken to achieve academic success going forward, specifically in the term for which you are appealing for financial aid. This should be a specific plan for meeting the SAP standards and graduation requirements in a timely manner.
  • Obtain third party documentation supporting the appeal. Examples of documentation include, but are not limited to, written statements from doctors, medical bills, orders for military activation and/or death certificate(s).
