Students invited to apply for advertising scholarship by Sept. 1
The Foundation of Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) has awarded Appalachian State University’s advertising program in Department of Communication with $2,750 to be used as a scholarship for one or more students.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Advertising Women of New York Scholarship Award. Eligible students must be juniors or seniors graduating after December and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and demonstrated financial need. The recipient(s) also must have past or current membership in the Appalachian State University Ad Club and knowledge of the advertising business.
Interested students should submit a resume; current GPA, both overall and major; and an essay that discusses the student’s desire to have a career in advertising, what he/she hopes to achieve through having a career in advertising and what area advertising the student would like to focus on and why.
Applications should be submitted to Roger Bodo no later than Tuesday, Sept. 1. He is located in 125 Walker Hall. Scholarship winner(s) will be announced by Friday, Sept. 18.
AWNY is a professional organization of over 1,300 women and men in the communications industries in the metropolitan area of New York.
“Advertising Women of New York values well-prepared young professionals who enter the communications business,” said Liz Schroeder, executive director and chair of the AWNY Foundation. “This award program and our annual Advertising Career Conference for 700 students, held each year in New York City, demonstrate our commitment to future professionals entering our field.”
The scholarship recipient(s) will be invited to participate in AWNY’s 53rd annual Advertising Career Conference Nov. 13 and 14 at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York.
