NURSING FACULTY MAKE PRESENTATIONS
Tuesday, December 19th, 2006Dr. Karen Reesman, chair of the Nursing Department, presented “Resilience Among Abused Women Who Have Left Their Partner, Sought Help from Shelter Staff, and Returned†Nov. 17 to the International Congress of Women’s Health Issues (ICOWHI). The meeting was held in Sydney, Australia.
The International Council on Women’s Health Issues (ICOWHI) seeks to promote the health, health care, and well-being of women throughout the world through participation, empowerment, advocacy, education and research.
Nursing faculty member Debbie Cody spoke at Watauga Medical Center Nov. 15 to approximately 90 nurses, social workers and chaplains about dealing with behavioral issues of clients in an acute care facility.Â
Her talk discussed how to take care of patients who have either diagnosed mental illnesses and are in the hospital for other reasons or how to take care of anyone exhibiting emotional and behavioral problems while in an acute care facility like a hospital. The presentation was made in conjunction with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
