Summer Dance Series Begins June 6

The Summer Dance Series sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance begins June 6 at Appalachian State University.

The series, which runs through June 28, will offer mixed beginning level classes featuring a variety of dance styles and bodywork classes. The classes are open to the public. Contact Regina James at Jamesrg@appstate.edu to be included on an email list that will provide details on teachers, classes and calendar line-up.

Classes will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in the dance studio in Varsity Gymnasium, room 208. The last week of classes will meet from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

In addition, classes will be offered Friday, June 8, at 12:30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 12, at 12:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m.

The line-up of classes is African, Rockette/Jazz, Krump/Hip-Hop, Yoga, Nia, Hula, Pilates, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Gyrokinesis and Tribal Belly Dance.

There is no obligation to attend all classes. Children ages 10 and older are welcome and younger children are welcome with an adult. Many of these classes are kid friendly and the class descriptions will state so. In lieu of a class fee, donations are welcome.
