Lindsay Bingham, junior, described the benefit of these types of experiences by saying, “Designers are visual learners and we love hands on tasks, so it was a great opportunity to get out of the classroom and experience it all first hand.”
Faculty members who accompanied the students included Jeanne Mercer-Ballard, Alex Poorman, and Tim Dolan.
The students found that the trip allowed them to expand on what they had learned in the classroom and interact with industry professionals. “The Hubbell Lighting Solutions Center trip provided us with a unique experience that reinforced the principles of lighting in coordination with real world applications of good design,” said junior John Michael Rhem.
Stephanie De Contreras, senior, said, "It was extremely beneficial to talk to industry professionals and see real, hands-on demonstrations of lighting applications."
